The Women Empowerment Cell (WEC) at Ramananda Centenary College works to promote gender equity, ensure a safe and inclusive campus, and support the holistic development of women students, faculty, and staff. Through awareness, capacity-building, and grievance redressal, the Cell fosters confidence, leadership, and equal opportunity.

Vision and Objectives

• Promote awareness of rights, health, and safety, and nurture a gender-sensitive campus culture.
• Build student leadership and employability through training, mentorship, and exposure.
• Prevent and address gender-based discrimination and harassment in alignment with institutional policies and legal frameworks.
• Encourage participation in academics, research, sports, and cultural activities without bias.

Functions

• Organize seminars, workshops, and certificate programs on gender sensitization, cyber safety, selfdefense, legal literacy, menstrual health, mental well-being, and financial literacy.
• Conduct career guidance, entrepreneurship clinics, and skill-building sessions in collaboration with industry and NGOs.
• Observe key days (International Women’s Day, National Girl Child Day, Menstrual Hygiene Day) to cultivate engagement and advocacy
• Facilitate counseling support and referrals; coordinate with the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and Anti-Ragging mechanisms
• Undertake outreach and extension activities in neighboring communities and schools

• Self-Defense and Personal Safety training in partnership with local law enforcement.
• Health and Hygiene camps with free counseling and product awareness.
• Digital Safety and Cyberbullying prevention sessions.
